Hay hued, yet very bright and clear. Orange blossom, geranium, lemon thyme, sage in Spring, river pebbles and bath salts. An aromaticity that hints an opulence but brings a more savoury exotica. Fiano’s ability to bring crunch and crispness to an otherwise sturdy and wholesome palate weight is here on deft show. On one hand you have the sense of a textured mouthful of satisfying white wine that offers apple and peach and nutty, honeyed flavours; on the other there is a brightness and freshness that drags every molecule of acidity out of the variety and into your mouth. An ancient Old World southern Italian grape making friends anew thanks to simple, clean, pert winemaking.
